Your smile can be completely transformed with porcelain veneers. These very thin shells of porcelain adhere directly to your natural teeth with dental bonding. Porcelain is a very durable and long-lasting material that is actually stronger than your natural enamel. Veneers can improve the appearance of many cosmetic imperfections including discoloration, chipped teeth, minor spacing issues, misshaped teeth, as well as irregular sizing issues.
Dr. Rothwell will personally meet with you and help determine every detail of your new look. The exact color, shape, and size can be customized into a smile you will absolutely love. She has a impressive list of cosmetic dentistry credentials and training that have helped to hone her artistic abilities.
Our Beautiful Smile Guarantee:
Dr. Rothwell is so confident in her cosmetic dentistry abilities that she offers what we like to call a beautiful smile guarantee. This means that you will have multiple opportunities to see exactly what your new smile will look like before it is permanently bonded into place. In fact, the wax-up model will be placed in your mouth for you to better visualize how it will look and feel. If you are unsure about the way it looks at any point in the smile design process, Dr. Rothwell will gladly rework the model until you are completely satisfied. The Porcelain Veneer Application Process:
When your smile design has been selected, it is time for your teeth to be prepared. A porcelain veneer is about 0.5 millimeter in thickness. This is about the same thickness as your fingernail. In most cases, this means a tiny portion of your tooth will need to be ground down a bit so the veneer has a seamless fit. This important step ensures that the veneer is undetectable. No one will be able to tell where the veneer ends and your natural tooth begins. In the image shown to the right, you can see just how thin the veneer actually is, demonstrating how very little tooth preparation is required.
When it’s all said and done, the final product will be stunning. Porcelain reflects light in the same way that your natural teeth do. It also has a similar translucency, texture, and mimics the natural structure of a tooth beautifully.
There are particular brands of ultra-thin porcelain veneers that do not require any tooth preparation. But with these types of veneers, there is always a risk that the veneers will look bulky, less natural, and in some cases longer. When you are making an investment in porcelain veneers, it is most important to select the right cosmetic dentist versus selecting a certain type of veneers. We suggest you meet one-on-one with our accredited cosmetic dentist Dr. Rothwell, so she can help you to determine the best course of action for your individualized needs.
Questions patients ask about this treatment:
- They seem so delicate. How long do porcelain veneers last? Am I going to have to have them replaced often?
- I don’t want to have my teeth damaged just to get a beautiful smile. Do you have to grind my teeth down?
