I’m having dental implants done. I just found out that he is going to use cadaver bone in my mouth. That is disgusting. Is there anyway to get the implants without cadaver bone?

Dear Sandy,
The reason your doctor recommended bone grafting is because you don’t have enough bone for the dental implants to integrate solidly into your jaw. Without that, your procedure is not only doomed to fail, but could lead to a host of other problems, such as a cracked jaw. I would not recommend going forward with the procedure without the grafting. I seriously doubt your dentist would do it.
IF it is the cadaver bone that is freaking you out, you might talk to him about using either bovine bone or even a synthetic/organic mixture. If you want, you can have some of your own bone harvested to use in the procedure. Be open with your dentist. I bet between the two of you, there will be a solution that will make you comfortable and give you a good chance of sucess with your dental implant procedure.
