My dentist mentioned I grind my teeth. I was surprised to hear that because I am with my teeth 24/7 and really don’t recall grinding my teeth. My question is I need a dental crown. I’m trying to decide between a CEREC crown and a traditinal crown. I like the idea of a one day crown, but didn’t know if it would hold up to teeth grinding, if in fact, I actually grind my teeth.

Morgan,
I’ll address the teeth grinding as well as your CEREC question, because it can have a tremendously negative impact on your oral health. Many people grind their teeth without realizing it. The reason being they do it in their sleep. Your dentist likely recognized the signs of it on your during your check-up. You didn’t mention whether or not he recommended a night guard, but this will be important for you to get.
CEREC crowns will not hold up to grinding. Neither will any other crown. Nor will your natural teeth, which is why I suggested the night guard. It will protect your teeth from a habit you can’t necessarily change, especially if you do it in your sleep. If you don’t get the guard, you risk cracking and loosening your healthy teeth.
Once you get the night guard, CEREC will be a fantastic solution for your dental crown needs.
