I discussed with my dentist that I want a smile makeover. We looked at porcelain veneers but I told him those were way too expensive. Then he suggested composite bonding, which was much cheaper, but he said might not last as long. I told him I’d get back with him. Then, last week I had an accident and chipped a tooth. My dentist said that he could easily fix that with the bonding. I thought this would be a great way to explore what that would be like so I agreed. While the tooth is no longer chipped, there is a slight gap and there is a big difference in color and texture between the real tooth and I don’t like how the composite part looks at all. I like the price of the composite compared to the veneers, but I’m not sure I’d like what the results would be. Is there a way to get a smile that is cheap like bonding but still looks attractive?

If the reason you are looking for a cheap smile makeover is that you truly cannot afford one, I’m going to steer you in a different direction. The cheapest way to improve your smile is to have teeth whitening done. It will make you look decades younger at a fraction of the cost of smile makeovers. This is a much better option than trying to get a cheap smile makeover. Believe me. There are countless cosmetic dentistry horror stories from people who tried to save money.
If you’re just looking to save money, but can afford porcelain veneers, I suggest you give up the idea of the composite bonding. A true smile makeover is best done with porcelain veneers. However, there is more to it than that. You also need an expert cosmetic dentist. Your dentist is not one, so even if you do decide to get the veneers, I would not allow your dentist to do them.
The bonding he did was quite poorly done. The color and texture should have matched. Plus, there was not reason for it to create a gap in your teeth. If he did your veneers, he wouldn’t do them well. You’d spend a fortune for poor results.
To get a truly gorgeous smile makeover, you need an expert cosmetic dentist. The best cosmetic dentists are are AACD accredited. These have exceptional training, technical skill and artistry.
