I want to put a diamond on the tooth next to my front tooth. I’ve seen this done before on celebrities, but wanted to get an idea of what I’d need to do? Would I extract the tooth and put in a fake one that has the diamond or can it just be put in that tooth? Also, what is the cost for something like that?

So you know, when you go to see the dentist, the tooth directly adjacent to your front tooth is called a lateral incisor. This will help you direct a dentist to where you are wanting it. Though, now that I think about it, pointing to the tooth and saying, “This one,” will actually do the same thing.
I believe the celebrity best known for the “bling” you are asking about is Drake. He had a pink diamond placed on his tooth.
How this would be done will depend on a couple of things. If you are wanting to place the diamond directly on a healthy tooth, some dentists may balk at that. They are doctors, and the first do no harm applies to them as well. However, I will say there is some gray area here for dentists because of cosmetic dentistry. In that case, our job is to make teeth look exactly like the patient wants. So, if you are talking about a natural, healthy tooth you will have better luck convincing a true cosmetic dentist.
Do not try to do this by yourself or by someone else, who is not a dentist but says they “know how.” This will lead to complications. On the one end of the spectrum, the area will collect bacteria as well as additional food and other debris. The most dangerous risk is that you could end up with severe damage that costs you the tooth altogether. It is imperative you have an actual dentist do this.
If it is a tooth that needs a dental crown or a complete replacement anyway, that is another scenario altogether. It would not be too hard to convince a dentist to place a diamond in a dental crown or dental implant.
The price will vary on a few things:
- You are responsible for providing the diamond, so whatever the cost of your diamond is will determine your base cost before any actual dental work is done.
- The type of procedure you need. Is it a dental crown or a dental implant?
- The fees of the dentist, which vary not only from state to state, but even area to area and dentist to dentist.
