I really thought CEREC crowns were un-messupable (Is that a word?). I was told they’re done by computers, which makes it simple for the dentist. But, everything seemed to go wrong with my case. First, she said my tooth was so damaged that she had to take a generic image provided. Then it didn’t fit right, which is likely due to a generic image. Then she ground it down to get it to fit right, but now it looks unnatural. Plus, it’s sensitive to air. Air! How do I avoid air? I thought this was supposed to be a simple procedure.

What an aweful experience. First, let me clear something up. ANY dentist can mess up ANY procedure. Humans are just that. Human. However, your dentist seems to take the frailty of being human to a new level of incompetence.

Your tooth was in bad shape, so she needed a generic image? Really? If your tooth wasn’t in bad shape, it wouldn’t have needed a crown. The CEREC crown system is designed for just this situation.

Next she ground it down because it didn’t fit. Well, it didn’t fit, because she didn’t do it right. While some minor adjustments are generally needed, changing it until it’s unrecognizable as a tooth is beyond minor adjustments. Then you tell me it’s sensitive to air. That implies to me you have open margins.

Bottom line. This crown needs to be re-done. By someone who knows what they’re doing.
