I saw an advertisement for Luster Premium Home Whitening. They have a light the way the Zoom Whitening System does. I checked their reviews and people do see a difference in their teeth. Is this the same thing as a home Zoom Whitening kit? If so, are there any tips to using it?
Kadie
Dear Kadie,
After looking into this I am afraid I cannot endorse it. Let’s start with the light. It is too weak to be effective. In my opinion, I believe it is there only for psychological reasons to make people think it is speeding up the whitening and to appear like a DIY Zoom Whitening. Here is why.
Their “whitening” ingredient, isn’t like the what you get with your dentist. With professional teeth whitening, your dentist will use a bleaching ingredient that whitens your teeth from the inside out. What Luster Premium uses is actually just a pigment, zinc oxide, that they put in their “Super Whitener.” What it really does is paint your teeth white temporarily.
Whatever good reviews they received probably came from patients who saw the whitening effect from the pigment and thought it was working. They must have written the review before the pigment wore off.
My suggestion is to talk to your dentist about Zoom Whitening. It’s very convenient and the results will not only be legitimate, but will last much longer.
