I am absolutely terrified of going to the dentist. I haven’t gone since I turned 18 and left home. It’s been four years and I’m starting to feel guilty. Is there a way to find a dentist that doesn’t remind me of my childhood nightmares?

Heather,
Your fear of the dentist is quite a common one and most of the causes are bad experiences in childhood. There are some dentists which are more gentle than others, but if you’re really that afraid then I suggest you start with sedation dentistry. This can give you pain free dental experiences.
Each sedation dentist has different levels of sedation they use. You can everything from mild nitrous oxide all the way to I.V. Sedation.
Decide what level of sedation you feel you need and then call around to see who offers what.
